Thrust Club first asked the question “Why Does Your Congressperson Want Me Dead?” with punk rock brevity in 2017 in response to a majority-Republican US Congress’s attempts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act. The song raises awareness that harmful legislation can be crafted by those who have distance from its impacts.

“This song came from the realization that death by suicide is a real possibility for me if the mental health care that I need is made inaccessible,” lead vocalist Bethany Leavey explains, “Who are these members of Congress to believe that my life, our lives, are not worth the money it would cost to potentially save?”

Proceeds will be split between the Loveland Foundation and the Okra Project.
